Luther Eugene Wilson

Luther Eugene Wilson, 79, of Axton, Virginia, entered his heavenly rest on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born September 14, 1946, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Luther Benjamin Wilson and Christine Wyatt Wilson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Taylor (Carol), Dale Wilson, Billy Wilson (Carolyn), and Donald Wilson; and brother-in-law, Sherwood Philpott.

Luther was of the Christian faith and a member of Collinsville Pentecostal Holiness Church where he found spiritual support and a wonderful faith community. He was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School, class of 1964. For over twenty years, Luther invested in the lives of young people as a coach for local baseball, basketball, and football teams. When he was not coaching, he could be found on the softball field where he enjoyed the sportsmanship and camaraderie of his team. The love and devotion he had for his family was greater than the compassion he had for sports.

He leaves behind a host of loved ones and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dianne Wilson; daughters, Amanda Pulliam (Richard) and Tammy Hicks (Robert); son, Brad Wilson (Lisa); sister, Judy Philpott; sisters-in-law, Karen Wilson and Gail Wilson; grandchildren, Lindsey Nester (Bryson), Natalie Wilson, Macey Wilson, Hollie Wilson, Ryland Pulliam, Robbie Hicks (Chloe) and Kiersten Hicks; and great-grandchildren, David Nester and Emerie Nester.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Virginia, with Bishop Brad Wilson officiating.
