Mabel Spencer Atkins

Mabel Spencer Atkins, 101, went to be with the Lord February 15, 2025. She was a resident at Stanleytown Health Care. Mabel was born in Franklin County, VA to the late Jerry Walker Spencer and Lula Spencer Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved and devoted husband of 59 ½ years Bernard J. Atkins; brother, Jerry “JW” Walker Spencer; and sisters, Velma Prillaman and Ruby Ramsey

Mabel retired from Harder’s Drug Store in Bassett, VA. She was a long time and oldest member of Fort Trial Baptist Church.

Mabel is survived by son, B. Jerry Atkins (Norvelline); granddaughters, Penny A. Coates (Steve) and Christy Ingram; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Fort Trial Baptist Church from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. A funeral will follow the visitation at 2:00p.m. Pastor Tony Beech and Joey McNeil will be officiating the service. The burial will be at a later date.
