Maceo Elizabeth Staples Sneed

Maceo Elizabeth Staples Sneed, 86, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 17, 2025. She was born on June 2, 1938, to the late George Abe Staples and Geneva Hairston Staples Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Torrance C. Sneed, and her stepfather, David Allen Parker.

Maceo was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in Sunday School, the Senior Choir, the Chorus, and the Culinary Committee. She was well known for her famous potato salad, a favorite among family and friends. Maceo found great joy in spending time with her loved ones, especially her close friend, Betty Shelton.

She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Byron A. Sneed (Teresa) and Darren M. Sneed (Chong); six grandchildren, Shameka Sneed, Corinna Sneed Donner, Darren Sneed Jr., Byron Sneed Jr., Cierra D. Sneed, and Brooklyn I. Sneed; eleven great-grandchildren, Avamarie, Brady, CaliMarie, Dublin, Oliver, Zoey, Calvin, Arthur, Dakaari, Namarri, and Julius; two sisters, Dorothy Staples Draper and Daisy Parker Hairston; and a host of cherished family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 12:00pm at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Harold Carelock Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the Staples Family Cemetery.
