Macie Peery McAlexander

On the evening of June 30, 2025, Macie Peery McAlexander, age 93, passed away from this earth to be reunited with her husband Ralph who passed away November 7, 2014. Macie was born and raised in Tazewell County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Samuel T. Peery and Lurah Celia Peery. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret P. Cain, and two brothers, S. Paul Peery and James W. Peery.

Macie was a graduate of Tazewell High School and West Virginia Business College of Bluefield. She moved to Martinsville and was employed by Continental Can Company where she met her husband, Ralph. During the early years of their marriage, she served as a volunteer with the Red Cross Bloodmobile and the Ladies Auxiliary of Martinsville Memorial Hospital. She was employed by the Martinsville Branch Library and later by the Collinsville Branch. Macie was a member of Chatham Heights Community Church.

She is survived by three children, Randall K. McAlexander (Diane) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Sharon M. Irvine (Donald) of Martinsville, and Richard P. McAlexander of Friedens, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Colin G. McAlexander and Vincent R. McAlexander. Her third grandson, Jesse A. Chapman, passed away in 2021. Survivors also include one brother, Marshall S. Peery (Alma) of Roanoke, Virginia; and a sister, Wanda C. Evans of Wingate, North Carolina.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Norris Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Burial Park on Monday, July 7, 2025, with Pastor Mike Hundley officiating.
