Margaret Carper Seagraves
Margaret was born in Princeton, West Virginia, and died in Roanoke, Virginia. Through the years, she relocated as family and professional decisions arose.
Margaret is survived by her son, George William Seagraves of Fort Worth Texas and her daughter, Sally Anne Seagraves of Roanoke, Virginia. She is also survived by daughter in law, Kathleen (Kate) Seagraves, grandsons, Jack Ryan Seagraves and John Taylor (Jake) Seagraves of Raleigh, North Carolina and other relatives who added fulfillment to her life. Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Margaret Eakin Carper, her father Carl Hudson Carper, and her son John Taylor Seagraves.
Throughout her life passages, Margaret interrelated with her family and friends with a loving spirit. She particularly loved children as she encouraged them to “live, learn and grow”. Whether through educational or psychological imprints, Margaret appeared to influence people in their life choices into more positive outlook…hope, faith, and resiliency yet in harmony through love to peace.
Margaret attended elementary schools, secondary schools, and college in West Virginia, Louisiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Alabama. Margaret served students as a teacher, supervisor, university professor, and counseling specialist in the field of education prior to retirement as an employee for 30 years from North Carolina in 1992. Margaret completed requirements for a Doctor of Psychology degree (Ph.D.) from The University of Alabama in 1997, became licensed in 1998, and began her second career in providing psychological services for people in Naples, Florida, for over twenty years.
Throughout the course of Margaret’s life, she made and kept many friends and continued close ties with her family. Her friends and family called, wrote and visited often after Margaret retired to Roanoke. Margaret resided at Woodland Hills at the time of her passing. Margaret’s family would like to thank everyone at Woodland Hills and Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care and support during her time with them.
A private service will be held in Athens, West Virginia, at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Athens Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 1048, Athens, WV 24712.
