Margaret Heck Omer
Margaret Heck Omer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of the Fincastle community and a devoted member of Fincastle Presbyterian Church. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was deeply involved in the church and in the community she loved. She was a member of the Botetourt Women’s Club, the Church Ladies Group, Historic Fincastle, and the Book Club.
Margaret found great joy in the simple things in life. She loved gardening, especially tending to her flowers and plants, and she was an avid reader with a particular interest in American and English history and mysteries. She enjoyed participating in church and community events and treasured the friendships and relationships she formed throughout her life.
Above all, Margaret dedicated her life to her family. She took great pride and joy in raising her two sons and spending time with her grandchildren. Her love, guidance, and devotion to her family will remain a lasting part of the lives of those who knew and loved her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Margaret Boone Heck and James Daniel Heck, as well as many aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Robert Omer; her sons, Robert Omer, II and his wife, Jenn, and James Omer and his wife, Lilly; her sister, Becky Grohovsky; her brother-in-law, Larry Grohovsky; and her nephew, Matthew. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Morgan Omer and Lawson Omer and his wife, Mikayla, and her great-granddaughter, Palmer, who brought her great joy.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the members of Fincastle Presbyterian Church, their neighbors and friends, and the hospice nurses who provided care, comfort, and support to Margaret and her family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle, Virginia.
Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering love of family, her faith, her love of her community, and the kindness she shared with those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
