Marie Augusta Wilhelmina Depuis Horton
Marie Augusta Wilhelmina Depuis Horton, 96, of Norfolk, Virginia, passed peacefully at her daughter’s home, in Forest, VA, into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by her four daughters and family, on September 16, 2024.
Marie was born in Pleasant Mound, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, to Otto and Minnie Depuis on June 10, 1928. She graduated from Becker High School and went on to earn an education degree from St. Cloud State University. Laton and Marie were loving parents and reared their seven children in the fear of the Lord. Marie was predeceased by her loving husband of over fifty years, Laton Yates Horton, Jr. and her two eldest sons, Paul Douglas Horton and Jay Andrew Horton.
She is survived by her beloved children, daughter-in-love Dorothy Horton, Peter & Lynn (Horton) Pratt, Lisa Horton, Lori Horton, Mark Horton, and Jeff & Jane (Horton) Abbett.
Her fifteen precious grandchildren include Andrew & Lucia Horton, Michael & Thida Johnson, Benjamin & Kristin Conover, Charles & Jenni Martinez, Lee & Jessica Horton, Sarah (Horton) Charters, John & Brenna Horton, Ethan & Kelley Pratt, Olivia Pratt, Alaina Pratt, Hunter & Claire Pratt, John Marc Abbett, Coulton & Chloe (Abbett) Rusk, Ian &Claire (Abbett) Haag, and Emily Abbett; her twenty-one dear great-grandchildren include Eva, Kolton, Zachariah, Hayley, Caden, Tyler, Grace, Julia, Mason, Preston (in Heaven), Parker, Wade, Isaiah, Reagan Mae, Laton, Orin, Revan, Alina, Flynn, Emily Lynn, and Baby Rusk due soon.
In honor of Marie’s love for world missions, memorial gifts can be made to Timberlake Baptist Church, with memo, Missions/Horton.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at Timberlake Baptist Church, 21395 Timberlake Rd, Lynchburg, VA, 24502, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
