Marie Elaine Patterson Barker

Mrs. Marie Elaine Patterson Barker, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.  Mrs. Barker was born September 17, 1943, in New Britain, CT, one of five children born to the late Lyman E. and Gladys Quimby Patterson.   Marie was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a grandmother to many.  She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Leigh Ann and Ken Tuttle and Janet Marie Barker; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce James and Libby Barker; five grandchildren, Nathan Barker, Kristina Thomas, Caleb Barker, Nicole Woodall, and Alyssa Barker; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Keith Patterson.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Barker; and four brothers, Wayne E. Patterson, Wayland R. Patterson, Wendell G. Patterson, and Wyllie B. Patterson.  The family will receive friends Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  No formal service will be held.  A private interment will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens.  In lieu of food and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL  60601 (www.alz.org).
