Marilyn Holmes Trepanier

Marilyn Holmes Trepanier, age 85, of Amherst, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Born on September 14, 1940, in Concord, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late George Ronald Holmes and Bertha Morgan Holmes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Trepanier; her siblings, Sonny Holmes, Herbert Holmes, and Nancy Parker; her nephews, Peter Holmes and Philip Holmes; and her dear friend, Cathy Book.

She was a member of Rutland Country Club in Vermont, where she enjoyed many rounds of golf with her husband. She also cherished her time golfing with her special friends of the Lake Bomoseen Ladies Golf League, creating memories and lasting friendships along the way.

In her younger years, Marilyn loved hunting and fishing with her brother, Bobby. Their shared passion for the outdoors led to countless adventures and an ongoing friendly competition, as they would eagerly call one another to compare who had shot the biggest deer. Those moments reflected the close bond they shared throughout their lives.

In April 2025, Marilyn moved to Virginia to be with her brother, Bobby, where she spent her final year courageously battling Alzheimer's dementia. Surrounded by the love and support of family, her last year was a good one, filled with comfort, companionship, and cherished time together.

She is survived by her brother, Robert "Bobby" Holmes; her stepdaughters, Debbie Sourdiff (Fred) and Diane Trepanier; her nephews, Bryan Holmes (Laura), Jeffrey Holmes, David Parker, and Bruce Holmes (Adriana); her niece, Brenda Whitehead (Andrew); and her good friends, Charlie Book, Janet McCardle, and Janet Larson (Karl).

A graveside inurnment service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery, which is in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, 650 Main St., West Rutland, VT 05777.
