Mark "Bb" Scott

July 11, 1957 - June 1, 2026

Mark Scott “BB”, 68, passed on from this world to the next on June 1, 2026. He had been living with cancer for the past few months.

He is preceded in death by his father George Scott, Jr. and mother Jane Scott and is survived by his brother Jack Scott and sister-in-law Donna Scott.

BB was born in Roanoke Virginia July 11, 1957 and lived in Roanoke most of his life.

He went to Patrick Henry H.S. and then began a long continuous work career that began at Norfolk and Western railroad in both signal construction and later train brakeman. He later found his true home in work life when he joined The Branch Construction Group in 1982 and worked for Branch for 41 years, retiring as an assistant superintendent.

BB was regarded at Branch as a reliable team member that would go to any lengths to ensure the job was done properly and as promised. He was passionate about his work and his fellow work partners and that passion was returned to him by many Branch associates during his recent months of illness.

BB was an active Boy Scout in his younger years and he developed life-long friendships there. He developed friendships where ever he went.

BB became an avid Grateful Dead music fan and one of his favorite pastimes was traveling to live concerts; he went to hundreds and found real joy in taking friends that had never been to share the unique experience.

One of his lifelong friends said recently “I’ve never heard B say a bad word about anyone”.

He had a smile that reflected the Light in his heart and we are going to miss him greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held with friends, arrangements to be announced at a later date.

Memorial gifts may be considered to Good Samaritan Hospice, Roanoke VA.

Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home, Electric Road.
