Martha Ann Palmer

Martha Ann Joyce Palmer passed away peacefully on her 84th birthday, October 21, 2026. She was born in Salem, Virginia, in 1942, to the late William Dyer and Hazel Lawson Dyer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Douglas Palmer, Sr; all her brothers and sisters; sons, Andy Palmer and Doug Palmer; and grandson, Dustin Sheppard.

Martha was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was a simple woman, and a loving homemaker. She was lovingly known as “Granny Palmer” in the Ridgeway community.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. Palmer (Scott); sons, Danny Palmer and Timmy Palmer; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation held on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, at Norris Funeral Services – Martinsville. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Roselawn Burial Park, in Martinsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donation be made to the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA in Martha’s honor.
