Martha Williamson

February 4, 1952 - September 29, 2022

Martha Briscoe Williamson passed away on Thursday, September 29th after a courageous battle with cancer. Martha was born in Alleghany County on February 4, 1952, to Ward and Rosa Biscoe. Martha was called to be a teacher from a young age and spent her life as a passionate and caring First Grade Teacher, always prepared for a good craft project. In 1999, she met the love of her life, Donald “Donnie” Williamson, and upon her retirement of 30 years teaching, she and Donnie moved to their charming home near Smith Mountain Lake. A long-time member of Eastlake Community Church, Martha enjoyed volunteering at Agape and sitting in the pew behind Pastor Troy every Sunday. Martha was a fierce advocate for animals, especially rescue dogs, felt most at home in her garden or at the beach and loved a good makeover story on HGTV.

Martha is survived by her niece, Brie King-Woods, who Martha cared for as a daughter, and her husband Michael Woods; her stepsons and their families: Chris Williamson and wife, Amanda, and grandchildren, Kaleb, Ashton, Brenna, India, RJ, Lily, and Julia Williamson; Dustin Williamson and wife, Renee, and grandchildren, Patrick, Bella, Raylan, and Walter Williamson; and Ty Williamson, and grandchildren, Alex, and Brayden Azucena. Martha is also survived by brothers-in-laws: Don of Florida, Steve of Alabama, Roger of Virginia, and Rick of Virginia, as well as his sister, Donna in Indiana, and Dana in Virginia, in addition to her chosen family of faithful friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Donnie, her mother Rosa, father Ward, and her sister Barbara.

We take peace in knowing that she is now able to live out her eternal love-story with Donnie, in the arms of the Lord.

Martha’s beautiful life will be celebrated on Friday, October 7th at Eastlake Community Church, with visitation at 10am and service at 11am, followed by a shared meal at church.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please share a donation with the Agape Center of SML or with Franklin County Planned Pethood Animal Adoption Center of Rocky Mount, VA.
