Mary Ann Burke

Mary Ann Burke, 78, formally of Utica, NY and currently Martinsville, VA , passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born July 1, 1945, in Utica, New York, to the late George Gossin and Agnes Brady Gossin.Mary grew up in Utica attending local schools and at one time worked as a nurses aide at Eden Park Nursing Home. Later she went on and became a teacher’s assistant at the Thea Bowman House where she embraced her love for caring for children. She loved each and every one of them and it was shown by her commitment and compassion. Mary loved her family especially her three grandsons. Her fondest memories were watching them play baseball when they were younger, being their loudest cheerleader. She was a huge New York Yankees fan. She loved Sunday dinners, summer cookouts with family, reading, and sitting on the deck doing her puzzle books. She also enjoyed summer trips she would often take with her sister Sharon. Mary was of the Catholic faith.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Burritt, and Sharon Smith; brothers, Harry Campbell, and Robert Campbell; son-in-law, Patrick Burr, Sr.She is survived by her daughter, Lori Burr-Talerico and her husband James; sons, John Burke, and Robert Burke and fiancé Courtney; brother, Myles Campbell; grandsons, Patrick Burr, Jr., Sean Burr, and Ryan Burr; great-grandson, Garret Hanson; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.Services will be held at a later date in Utica, New York.
