Mary Elizabeth Carter

Marie Elizabeth Carter, age 99 of Danville, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at Stratford Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Carter was born February 15, 1927, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Susie Snead and Fred Kennedy. She was married to the late Curnish Carter.

She is survived by her daughter, Bevelyn Byers; son, Wilbur Pittman; and grandchildren, Richard Keith Byers, Nicole Chappell, and Jose Pittman.

In addition to her parents and late husband, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Nona Goodwin, Lena Mae Gore, and Lavaughn Withfield; and brothers, Maurice Kennedy and Tedworth Kennedy.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Mrs. Carter will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel with Elder Thomas Betts officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday, also at Norris Funeral Service, West End Chapel.

Interment will follow for Mrs. Carter at a later date at The Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
