Mary Foster McBride

Mary Foster McBride, age 91 of Rocky Mount, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023. She was born on October 14, 1931 to Benny Foster and Ronaldia Moore Foster. As a child, she attended Germantown School in the Wirtz community of Franklin County, where she made many lifetime friends. She met the love of her life, Allen, at a baseball game and they spent 69 years together. Allen and Mary enjoyed trips to Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Myrtle Beach with family. She was a long-time member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church; because of her love of children, Mary taught Sunday School for many years. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Bill (Nancy) and Donald (Ruby) and she is survived by her brother, Glen (Loretta). She was blessed with two daughters, Lynn Boggess and her husband Carl and Theresa Shepherd and her husband Roger; grandchildren, Cassandra, William, Colin and Ben and great-grandchildren, Lucas, Vivian, Weston, Ezekiel, and Jocelyn. Mary was also like a mother to her many nieces and nephews. Mary loved quilting, embroidering, flowers and gardening; but most of all she loved family. The family would like to thank Angelina McCauley and her husband, Jeffrey for her caregiving and nursing skills and for being a great neighbor. In addition, a special thank you to Amanda Turner for the love and kindness that she showed during the nights that she spent staying with Mary. Lastly, the family would like to thank Mary’s church family for being there every day during her last illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in honor of Mary or Good Samaritan Hospice. A graveside service will be held at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 with Mr. Bobby Angell officiating. Her family will receive friends 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. prior to service on Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
