Mary Helen Sochor

Mary Helen Sochor, age 98 of Moneta moved to her eternal home on Friday, September 16, 2022. She was born October 29, 1923 a daughter of the late John and Susie Sochor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Feryance, Gertrude Sedjo, Zelma Lyons and Ida Feryance; and three brothers, John B., Benjamin and Fred Sochor. Mary was a member of Franklin Heights Church in Rocky Mount. She was also a 2nd Lieutenant serving in the United States Army during World War II as a Nurse. She also traveled as a Nurse for two, four years terms as a Missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions in French Equatorial Africa, now Central African Republic. Surviving are her sister, Lydia Sochor; brother, Thomas Sochor; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Stan Parris officiating. Interment will be private in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
