Mary June Moore Martin

Mary June Moore Martin, born June 21, 1932 passed peacefully at home on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was 92. Mary June was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.

Mary June is survived by two children, Barry D. Martin and Debbie Martin Maynard, a granddaughter, Glynnis Maynard, and son-in-law, Rick Maynard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Martin.

Mary June was one of 10 children of Mary Magdalene Spencer Moore and John Robert Moore. Mary June is survived by a sister and two brothers, along with many nieces and nephews on both the Moore and Martin sides of her family.

Mary June was a long-time resident of Rocky Mount, and worked at both DuPont and M&W. Mary June was a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, and also attended Franklin Heights Baptist Church. In her younger years, she helped volunteer at church socials at both locations and enjoyed attending Sunday School.

Mary June’s life centered around her family and friends. She loved to cook, sew and once she retired, travel on bus trips with her friends. She also loved all kinds of puzzles, especially Sudoko.

A celebration of Mary June’s life will be held at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 85 W. Church Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Trevor Clatterbuck officiating. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. The burial service will be private.
