Mary "Kathi" Katherine Hammock

Mary Katherine “Kathi” Hammock, 69, transitioned from her earthly life at her home in Ridgeway, Virginia Saturday, June 7, 2025. She was born June 26, 1955, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Virgil Lloyd Powell and the late Johnni Faye Martin Powell.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Virgil Estes Powell and Nellie Cloter Martin Powell.

Kathi was loved by many and impacted others with compassion, especially while working as a CNA for 13 years. Most recently, she was employed by Rock Tenn as a forklift driver. She loved to travel, particularly to the mountains.

Kathi may be gone from this earth, but her impact lives on with those who loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tori Hammock Oliver (Will); sons, Brian Scott Hammock (Christy), Jason Bradley Hammock (April); sister Deborah Ann Watkins; loving companion, Curtis Durham; grandchildren, Brian Scott Hammock, Jr., Mercedez Hammock, Jaden Hammock, Rylan Hammock, Grant Hammock (Elizabeth), Kolbe Oliver, and William Oliver; and great-grandchildren, Everleigh, Ridge, and Legacy.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
