Mary Magdalean Zigler Craighead

On Thursday, July 12, 2024, Mary Magdalean Zigler Craighead, 61, of Fieldale, VA, transitioned from her earthly life to her new heavenly home. Born in Patrick County on October 12, 1962, to the late John Frank Zigler and Tillie Mae Penn Zigler, Mary’s life was a tapestry of love, faith, and service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Doris Zigler Pilson. Her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.Mary's spiritual journey was a cornerstone of her life. She found her spiritual home at Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church and was baptized on October 3, 1993. She attended Patrick County High School in Stuart, VA. After working at Stanley Furniture for six years, Mary discovered her true calling in life: caring for others. She became a dedicated childcare provider and caregiver for seniors, touching countless lives with her compassion and kindness.Her loving memory is cherished by those she left behind, including her husband, E. Bernard Craighead; her daughter, Latoyal Z. Hairston of Greensboro, NC; her granddaughter, Aja M. Hairston of Greensboro, NC; her four brothers, F. Steve Zigler of Fieldale, VA, George A. Zigler of Martinsville, VA, B. Clifton Zigler of Bland, VA and Hozer Penn of Ridgeway, VA; and one aunt, James B. Zigler of Spencer, VA. She is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary's unwavering love and commitment to her family and her community will forever be cherished.The funeral will be Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Red Hollow Primitive Baptist Church, 30568 Jeb Stuart Highway, Spencer, Virginia 24165. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park, 18960 A.L Philpott Highway, Spencer, Virginia 24165. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service. There will be a floating visitation on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends at 2260 The Great Road, Fieldale, Virginia 24089.
