Mary "Nester" Ruth York

Mary Ruth York “Nester”, 65, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at her residence. She was born October 28, 1957 in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Joseph James York and Loma Ellen Frazier York. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Daniel York; and nephew, Joseph York. She had been a cosmetologist for over 40 years. She loved cracking jokes, and loved the movie “O Brother, Where Art Thou”. She could quote the movie and sing all the songs in it. She was a proud mother, was a talented artist, and enjoyed painting. You would be hard pressed to see her without her trusty baseball cap. She was a very strong and fierce lady, and was a brain aneurysm survivor. Mary is survived by her husband, Micheal Coy Nester; daughter, Melissa Jo York (James Garfield Tilley IV); step-daughter, Jessica Leann Nester Harris; step-son, Micheal Coy Nester, Jr.; and brother, Harvey Lee York (Kim). The Memorial Service will be Friday, March 10, 2023, at 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Sue Frazier Sayers officiating.
