Mary Susan Huggins Barker

Mrs. Mary Susan Huggins Barker, age 70, of Elkin, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at her home. She was born on April 26, 1955 in Chatham County, Georgia to the late Ellis and Ella Mills Huggins. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Jennifer Whealton (Dekle), Melanie McKenzie, Melissa Burnsed (Jack), Kayla Southerland; son, Brian McKenzie (Alexis); thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Winters; brothers, Ellis, Ricky, and Terry Huggins; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Barker; grandchild, Isaah Guion; sisters, Martha Barker and Louise Glacking; brothers, Charles, Bobby, and Michael Huggins. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the funeral home.
