Master Chief John Robert Pierson

Master Chief John Robert Pierson, age 87 of Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning February 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on March 1, 1936, in Fulton County, NY to the late Benjamin John Pierson and Gertrude Trevette Pierson. Master Chief retired from the US Navy after 33 years of serving our country. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked for many years at Greentree Finance Company and retired from there as an Inventory Control Manager. John was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, but mostly he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Rosemarie Cortese Pierson of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Greg Fox of North Charleston, SC, Rosemarie and Tony Vest of Floyd, VA, Johnna and Scott Williams of Colville, WA, and Angela and James Murphy, Jr. of Westfield, NC; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sean Pierson of Westfield, NC, and Patrick and Denise Pierson of Silver Springs, FL; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; special friend, Roger Nichols; and several other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Paul Eugene Thomas, Jr. and Christopher Pierson; a great-grandson, Nicholas Firth; two sisters, Virginia Baker and Elean Pierson; two brothers, Benjamin Pierson and Edward Pierson; and Brother Frank and Laura Turo. The Pierson family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 until 3:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 10, 2024, at 3:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with full military rights. After the completion of the services, family and friends may gather at the home of Angela Murphy, 6480 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053. The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Central Continuing Care for all of the love and support given to Master Chief and his family.
