Mathew Alan Clemons

Mathew Alan Clemons, Sr., 60, of Salem, Va., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Born to William “Billy” and the late June E. Clemons on April 1, 1963. Alan worked as a Land Surveyor for many years and was an active member of the Virginia Association of Surveyors. When not working, he enjoyed bowling for many years. Later on, he enjoyed golf and watching hockey and baseball games. He took many trips with his kids and “extra kids” to watch those games. Above all, he adored his wife and was so very proud of his children. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Kate and Mass Clemons, and Gertrude and Carl Eades.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer Akers Clemons; sons, Mathew A. Clemons, Jr. and spouse, David, Linden William Clemons, and daughter, Madison Abigail Clemons; numerous cousins, aunts, and many friends also survive.
A celebration of his life will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Salem.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
