Maxine Easley Nester

Maxine Easley Nester, 80, passed away on August 2, 2026. Maxine was born in Danville, VA on August 30, 1945 to the late Helen Lacey Easley and the late Roy Maxwell Easley. She was predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Kenneth Ray Nester Sr.

Maxine was of the Baptist Faith and attended Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a Loan Processor at American National Bank, previous to her retirement.

Maxine is survived by a daughter; Karen Nester Hayes (Jeff) of Blairs, VA; a son; Kenneth Ray Nester Jr. of Gulfport, Mississippi; two sisters; Joan E. Shields and Winnie E. Cassada (Butch); and four grandchildren; Cambell Grace Barts, Taylor Rae Barts, Kiersten Hayes, and Kennedy Nester; and sister in law; Carnelia Easley.

In addition to her Husband and Parents, Maxine was predeceased by a daughter; April Nester Barts; and two brothers; Donald Phillip Easley and Lynwood “Sonny” Easley; a brother in law; Edwin Shields; a grandson; Colby Reed Nester.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00am at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, with Pastor Matt Speck and Pastor Ryan Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day 1 hour prior to the service from 10-11:00am also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
