Mccoy P. Garrison

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of McCoy P. Garrison, Jr., 95, of Salem, Virginia, on Sunday, June 28, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary Louise Garrison and his son, Daniel Garrison. McCoy is survived by his son, Steve Garrison; daughter, Kathy Spark and husband, Bill; grandson, Aaron Kelderhouse; granddaughter, Sarah Slate; three great-grandchildren; brother, J.D. Garrison and wife, Delores; and sister, Barbara Denton. McCoy served in the United States Air Force, retired as an engineer for C & P Telephone company and served a four-year term as union president of CWA Local 2204. He enjoyed traveling, beach trips and camping with his family. McCoy had a strong faith, actively served his church and always enjoyed visiting with his relatives. Other passions of his were gardening, music and attending concerts. McCoy was cherished, greatly loved by many and will be missed. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Kingery officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to both Richfield Living and Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness given to McCoy and their family. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
