Megan Delancy Carmichael

Mrs. Megan DeLancy Carmichael, age 71, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Wake County, NC, March 22, 1955, the daughter of the late Norman and Wanda Marguerite Grandoff DeLancy. She was a retired interior designer and attended Flat Rock Baptist Church. Megan had a gift of charisma that brightened every room she entered and she always expressed hope along with a zest for life. Whether in gardening, winemaking, interior design, quilting, or even Alaskan salmon fishing, she jumped in full throttle and always produced excellence. She will be sorely missed, but her faith assures us all that she's in a better place. Surviving is her husband, William Gary Carmichael, Sr.; stepsons, William Gary Carmichael, Jr. (Michelle), Walter Jeffrey Carmichael (Cheri), Randall Gene Carmichael (Marlaina); step grandchildren, Samara Gray Carmichael, William Gary Carmichael III (Amy), Walter Jeffrey Carmichael, Jr. (Stephanie), Kayla Carmichael Armstrong (Jordan), Devinne Mae Carmichael, Corey Yandle, Ryan Yandle; step great grandchildren, Lydia Jane Carmichael, Margo Ruth Carmichael, Casey Walter Carmichael, Blair Evelyn Carmichael; sister, Linda DeLancy Grissinger; brother, Jay Norman DeLancy (Kasey); brother-in-law, Ronald Carmichael (Judy), sister-in-law, Kathy Carmichael; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Norman and Wanda DeLancy of Raleigh, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Marie DeLancy, brother-in-law, Donald Carmichael and niece, Nancy Grissinger Bair. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Reed officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
