Melvin Gene Janke

Melvin Gene Janke, 84, of Axton VA passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was born to the late Otto E. Janke and Annie Hirsch Janke. In addition to his parents Melvin was predeceased by brother, Athur C. Janke; and sister, Doris Norris.

Melvin worked at the Newport News Shipyard for 5 years and retired in 2000 from Verizon after 30 years of service. He was a member of Countyline Christian Church.

Melvin is survived by his wife Carol Mabe Janke, Axton, VA; daughter, Michelle Janke-Kozlowicz, Axton, VA; son, Bryan A. Janke (Crystal), Newport News, VA; sisters, Della Gouvia (Arnold), LaVernia, TX and Millies Maes (Richard), Australia; grandchildren, Peyton Kozlowicz Vest (Austin), Carson Janke and Makenzie Janke.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 2:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. at Countyline County Christian Church. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 3:00p.m. at Countyline Christian Church. Pastor Dean Ashby will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Countyline Christian Church Cemetery.
