Melvin Meador
Melvin L Meador, 88 of Blue Ridge Virginia, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 30th, 2026. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Melvin knew he was not perfect, but he had a heart of gold and was always willing to help those in need. In his younger years, Melvin was a Sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After 8 dedicated years and with an honorable discharge, he became a part of the civilian community where he went to work as a heavy equipment operator. Melvin supervised & worked on many large projects across the 81 corridor and here at home. He once said, “if you can drive on it, I worked on it.” Melvin finally retired from Kroger, where he was a truck driver for many years.
Melvin enjoyed being outdoors. He especially loved hunting and fishing whether it be with his family or friends, it didn’t matter that’s where he was the happiest. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his grandson Spencer. They shared a bond that can never be broken.
Melvin also enjoyed reading his bible. He was a dedicated member and Deacon for many years at the Good News Baptist Church in Vinton Va.
Melvin was predeceased by his father and mother, Leo and Nellie Meador, his wives Bonnie Meador, Margaret Meador & Dolly Meador, his son Lee Meador, daughters Linda Meador & Lisa Meador St. Cyr, one granddaughter Meagan St. Cyr, his brothers, Ronnie Meador, David Meador, Glenn Meador & Danny Meador.
Melvin is survived by his sisters, Ada Meador Flowers and Linda “Sue” Flowers and her husband Ray Flowers, his daughter Brenda Meador Bishop, and by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thank you to his good friend “Huck” for everything he did for Melvin and for being here for our family. Melvin treasured his friendship.
There will be a graveside service, at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.
