Merlin Meeks

Merlin Meeks, age 90 of Rocky Mount went to be with our Lord Sunday, March 17, 2024. He loved the Lord and he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Henry and Ebbie Meeks; brothers, Claude Meeks (Peggy), J.H. Meeks (Betty); baby brother, Donnie; two infant sisters; parents-in-law, Ben and Edith Mullins; son-in-law, Dr. James H. Rucker, Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Michael Mullins and Bobby Hiatt. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 72 years, Ruby Meeks; daughter, Kathy Rucker; son, Randy Meeks (Bea); grandson, Simon Rucker (Amanda); two granddaughters, Sarah Campbell (Kevin) and Christy Floyd (Steve); great-grandchildren, Eli and Anna Rucker, Brooklyn and Kennedy Floyd; and two sisters-in-law, Melva Hiatt and Kathy Prillaman. A special thank you to Sarah and the other caretakers at Fork Mountain Rest Home for their outstanding love and care. A private graveside service will be held at Franklin Memorial Park with Dr. William Shively officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church.
