Mildred Cash Johnson

Mildred Barnes Cash Johnson (Bonnie), 86 of Elon passed away peacefully on October

13, 2026 at her home. Born and raised in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the

late James Thomas and Lucille Stinnette Cash. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was

preceded in death by her brother, James R. Cash, sisters in law, Kay Cash, Bernice

Jean (Bob), and brother-in-law Lewis Johnson.

Bonnie is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Ivan L. Johnson, daughters

Melanie Johnson (Mindy), Kim Darrah (Kent), and son Van Johnson (Carrie). Four

grandchildren, Jack Darrah (Madi), Georgie Javelosa (Martin), Alaina and Hunter

Johnson. One great granddaughter, Kennedy Darrah. Sister-in-law, Mary Wootton

(Earl) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Lorraine, who was an answer to our prayers for her loving

care and devotion to our Mother. A special thank you to the many hospice nurses who

supported us through the years.

Bonnie was a graduate of Amherst County High School and Phillips Business College.

She retired from Central Virginia Community College.

She was a devoted member of Elon Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held at Elon Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 16 th at

11:00am and graveside service to follow at 2:00pm at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
