Mildred Smith

May 8, 1931 - March 10, 2023

Mildred was the youngest and the last remaining of seven siblings; after graduation from high school, she earned a bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington D.C. In 1954, she married the love of her life in Arlington, Va. and together they raised two sons, while having lived in both D.C. and on Cape Cod. She greatly enjoyed travelling and her passports were full of stamps from all over the world. A gifted artist, Mildred leaves behind a legacy of creativity and color. She loved old movies and playing cards, especially cribbage, and held a special place in her heart for her Golden Retriever, Leo. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who selflessly and devotedly made a house a home.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Garrett (Tess) Smith and Galen Smith; grandchildren, Ruby Smith, Noah Smith, Allison (Tyler) Bannister, and Tabitha Smith; as well as great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Delaney, and Eloise Bannister.

A private family gathering to celebrate the life and legacy of Mildred Smith will be planned at a later time. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
