Mildred Wells Hubbard

Mildred Wells Hubbard, 91, of Roanoke went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 5, 2024. She was preceded by her parents, Gratton and Neva Brown Wells, husband, Lester Hubbard, son, Stephen Hubbard and sister, Louise Wells.

Mrs. Hubbard retired from Roanoke County Schools after many years of service. She worked for 27 years in food service, and later served as a school bus aide. In addition to her time with the school system she also worked for Tweeds Telemarketing.

She was a longtime devoted member of Peters Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

Surviving are her children, Jerry Hubbard (Dealie) of Roanoke, Charles L. Hubbard of Summerville, SC, and Carol Craighead (Johnny, Jr.) , of Catawba; grandchildren, Jessica Boerstler, and Johnny Craighead, III (Elizabeth); great grandchildren, Johnny Craighead, IV, Waylon Craighead, Tristen Boerstler, and Josey Craighead; brother, Ellis Wells (Betty) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Peters Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church 7645 Wood Haven Road Roanoke, VA. Interment will follow in Brubaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 540 366 0707
