Morris W. Porch

September 3, 1942 - March 2, 2024

Morris W. Porch, 81, of 255 Wheatley Rd, Danville, VA, left for his Heavenly home on Saturday, March 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 3, 1942, to Jesse and Virgie Porch of Roanoke Rapids, NC. Morris is predeceased by two older brothers: Robert Porch, Edward Porch and one sister, Kathleen Polk.

In addition to his loving wife of 63 years and high school sweetheart, Ann, he is survived by two sons; Wayne (Kristi), Anthony (Leigh Ann), one daughter; Krista Braxton (Beau), four grandchildren; Abbey Langford (Bradley), Ethan Porch (Ashley); Amelia Porch, Liza Porch, as well as three great grandchildren; Graham, Preston and baby boy Porch due in July.

He was a loyal and faithful member of North Main Baptist Church since 1979, where he developed his heart for missions and served in multiple church leadership roles. With Ann, they co-directed Judgement House for 40 years, helping to bring hundreds to know Christ. He also led five mission trips to Thailand as well as developed a close relationship with a sister church in Beckley, WV, where he spent ten years serving with many missions. He volunteered with the SBCV and Red Cross Disaster Relief, serving in missions in direct response to hurricanes, floods, and 9/11 in NYC. He also achieved a Lifetime Donor Status with the Red Cross. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Morris tirelessly worked to make the lives of those around him better in any way he could, and always had a kind word or a prayer for those who needed him.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 6 at Norris Funeral Home, Mt Herman Chapel in Danville. There will be a private interment at a later date. Visitation will start at 3:00 PM prior to the service, which will begin at 4:00PM. All other visitations will be at the residence.

The family also wishes to thank all the friends, family and first responders who ministered to him and showed him the utmost of kindness during his illness. Your kindness and friendship mean more than we can ever express.
