Nelta Jacqueline Hiatt Thayer

Nelta Jacqueline Hiatt Thayer, 76, of Dobson, NC passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025, at her home. Born April 12, 1949, in Surry County to the late Charlie Robert and Edna Eloise Hodges Hiatt. Nelta was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters and sons-in-law Vickie Ramey and Tim, Beckie Sebastian and Scott, and Lisa Seeborg and Ryan; son and daughter-in-law, Joshua Thayer anf Jessica; grandchildren, Garrett Draughn and Anna, Jordan Sebastian, Elliott Draughn, Emily Sebastian, Ammen Mounce and Kyleigh Lane, TJ Ramey and Caitlin, Tess Ramey and Will Danley, Camden Seeborg, Dylan Seeborg, Chloe Seeborg, Cassi Thayer, and Scarlett Thayer; great grandchildren, Curtis Kelly Draughn, Ansley Ramey, and Jack Ramey; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine Williams and Henry; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Evans Thayer; and brother, Charles Hiatt. A memorial service to celebrate Nelta’s life will be held Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Wall officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
