Nettie Diane Tate
Nettie Diane Tate, beloved wife, mother, grandmother “Granny,” and treasured friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Diane was devoted to her family and friends, sharing a love that reflected the grace of Jesus and touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Diane was born on October 3, 1956, in Danville, Virginia, to her late mother, Lois B. Robertson. She dearly loved her mother and her late beloved grandmother, Maggie G. Covington, and her family finds comfort knowing she is now celebrating in Heaven with them. Diane also dearly loved her late dog, Reeces, who brought joy to her life.
Diane retired after managing Hilltop Gardens independent living for seniors, a role that reflected her heart for serving and caring for others. She found great joy in loving on the residents, spending time with them, and playing games together. Diane also enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals, gathering with family and friends, and riding in the hot rod with her husband.
Diane is survived by her loving husband, William “Taterbug” Tate; her daughter, Casey Stowe and husband, Christopher Stowe, and their daughter, Evelyn Hope Stowe; her daughter, Christy Diane Tate; Robby Cundiff; her grandson, Blake Edward Haynes; and her best friend, Mary Sue Burdette, who was like a sister to her. Diane loved being “Granny” to her grandson, Blake Haynes, and her granddaughter, Evelyn Stowe.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Diane’s memory to the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, a local nonprofit organization serving cancer patients in Danville and Pittsylvania County.
A private funeral service will be held. Visitation will take place at the family residence, 788 Rocksprings Road, Ringgold, Virginia 24586.
