Norma Black Morrell, 93, of Lynchburg passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John L. Morrell for 68 years.

Born on December 24, 1929, in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Norman Black and Lula Brewer Black. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by two children, Paula Morrell and husband, John Sterling of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Scott Morrell and wife, Tammy of Concord; seven grandchildren, Ashley Morrell (Taylor), Megan Hamlett (Stephen), Bram, Ethan, Julia (Rachel), Zane, and Gareth Sterling; 12 great-grandchildren, McKenzie Morrell (Chase Spillman), Riley, Daisy, Dennis, Dillon, Harper, Waylon, Brody, and Tate Morrell, Brentley, Mattox, and Johnson Hamlett; and one great-great-grandchild, Madison Spillman.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Gladys Rogers, Mae Anderson, Ruth Eades, and Florence Cowand; and four brothers, James, Charlie, Thomas, and John Black.

A graveside funeral service will be held 3 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Concord Cemetery with Rev. Chad Harris officiating.
