Norris Ilene Hamlett

Norris Ilene Hamlett, 96, of Stuart, Va (formerly of Coraopolis, PA) passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart, VA. Born on July 4, 1926 to the late Elbert Smith and Hassie Stanley Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Hugh Hamlett of Charlotte County Virginia, one sister, Shelby Smith Marcus, one brother, Earl Smith and a special friend, Donald “Clem” Clement ( dancing partner).

She was a member of Christ Church at Grove Farm and worked as a self-employed caretaker, a switchboard operator and a elementary school cafeteria worker.

Surviving are one daughter, Norris Hamlett Carney Myers, one son, Gerald (Lorraine - partner in crime) Hamlett, three grandchildren, Serenity Hamlett, Matthew (Kaltrina), Jason Carney, seven great grandchildren. Liam, Luke Hayes,Trevor, Benjamin, William, Victoria, Arber Carney.

Born in Meadows of Dan, VA she married a military man, Cliff Hugh Hamlett. Cliff and Ilene traveled around the U.S. and twice to Europe and back to Bethel Park, PA and finally settling in Coraopolis, PA.

She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to to many. She was also an avid ballroom dancer. Ilene will be greatly missed, but she will forever be in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
