Opal Claudine Shepherd Kanode

Opal Claudine Shepherd Kanode, 95, of Salem passed away on January 3, 2023 at Snyder’s Nursing Home in Salem.

A native of Virginia she was the wife of the late Lewis Milton Kanode and Claude Shepherd and Carra Garman Shepherd, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her son Jackie Kanode; and her sister, Rachel.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Mel Kanode and wife Donna and Buddy Kanode and wife Karen; five grandchildren, Melissa Baldwin, Summer Tetterton and husband John, Scott Kanode and wife Krista, Matt Kanode and wife Amy, and Megan Kanode; four great grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty, Christine, and Helen.

The family will receive friends at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm in Sherwood Memorial Park.
