Opal Elizabeth Craft Divers
Opal Elizabeth Craft Divers passed from this life into glory on February 1, 2024.
Born to the late Jube B. and Bertha C. Craft in Oriskany, Virginia on August 15, 1934, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Wilford B. Divers, Sr., siblings Mary Madeleine Craft, Fred M. Craft, Berlin J. Craft, Harry C. and wife Eunice J. Craft, Phyllis C. Paxton, and Eva G. Craft.
Opal is survived by her favorite son, W.B. and his wife Charlotte Divers, grandsons Luke and Neil Divers, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Elizabeth L. and Tony W. Fuller, great grandson Emmett L. Divers, and many dear brothers and sisters in laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Opal was a proud member of the 1953 graduating class of Eagle Rock High School and kept those friendships until the end of her life. After graduating she moved to Roanoke in 1953 and began a career with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, retiring in 1985, and was a longtime active member of The Pioneer Association of America.
After fighting alongside Wilford in his battle with cancer, Opal found an added sense of purpose as a longtime volunteer at the Blue Ridge Cancer Center. Opal could often be found working in her flower beds, on the porch, or spending time with the family she dearly loved. She will also forever be remembered for the ever-present jars of Kit-Kats and Little Debbie snack cakes.
A visitation will be held at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount on Monday February 5 at 6:00pm, with services to follow at 7:00. A graveside will be held for the family at a later date.
