Opal Hanks

Opal Hanks, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was born June 3, 1939 in Speedwell, VA a daughter of the late Samuel Brewer and Nannie Funk Brewer. She was also preceded in death by her husband Rev. Berlin Hanks. Opal was a Registered Nurse and retired from the Martinsville/Henry County Health Department. She alongside with her husband, Berlin served the Snow Creek Community for many years in church and civic activities. Surviving are her daughter, Angela Winn and husband Randy; son, Jonathan Hanks; and grandchildren, Megan, Hunter and Haley. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025 with Rev. Scott Oliver and Rev. Randy Winn officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers or food, memorial donations may be made to Snow Creek Christian Church. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
