Patricia Diane Hudzik

Patricia (“Pat”) Diane Nicholson Hudzik 79 of Rocky Mount passed on March 25th 2024 at Carillon Memorial Hospital, in Roanoke Virginia. The Daughter of Herman (“Dee”) Dillard and Nelle Nicholson, she was born on September 20, 1946 in Ferrum, Virginia. Pat will be remembered by all for her kind, gentle and sweet presence in this world.

Pat, a loving and devoted mom, returned to school later in life, after raising her three children. Upon graduating from UNC-G in 1992 with a double major in English and Art History, she went on to receive her masters in English from Appalachian State University.

Pat was endlessly creative. She loved literature, art and theatre. But at the end of the day - she was always a country girl at heart. She loved watching nascar racing, football, listening to country music and dining on fried fish caught by Mark and her father (Pa Pa), Mark’s Sunday night homemade spaghetti, cornbread and cheeseburgers (especially from Fenderz in Collinsville). Always was up for a good porch sit, while rocking in her rocking chair with her cat Cloudy in her lap. The things she treasured most in her golden years were her sweet conversations with her friends and her family while overlooking the creek where she lived.

She is survived by her brother, Blair Nicholson and his wife Margaret of Liberty NC, her son, Mark Hudzik and his fiancee Ann Leuth, her son Stephen Hudzik and his wife Farrell, of Charlotte NC and her daughter Trista Hudzik of Leicester NC. She is also survived her grandchildren Avery and Eli Hudzik and nephew Brandon Nicholson and his wife Jordan along with their children Jennifer and Cove of Greensboro NC.

A memorial service will be held on Friday April 12, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church of Penhook, Virginia.
