Patricia Ellen Arrington Ball, 76, of Roanoke, VA went to to be with her Savior on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Pat (Patsy) was born on April 11, 1950 in Roanoke, VA to the late Clarence and Eileen Arrington. She was raised in Roanoke County and lived in Newport News, VA. As of late, she had been a resident of Brandon Oaks in Roanoke, VA.
She graduated from Northside High School in 1968 and was a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg VA in 1972. Pat was one of the first females to graduate from Virginia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Her career started at Newport News Shipbuilding as an engineer and she retired there as an Engineering Manager in 1997. After retiring she and Carl, her husband, became co-owners of The HomeTeam Inspection Service that they operated for 8 years.
She was the faithful and devoted wife of Carl Marion Ball, Jr. since 1978. Pat was a gracious stepmother to Kenneth (Kenny) Landon Ball and his wife Sherry of Roanoke and Christiansburg VA and they devoted much of their time to the care and comfort of Pat and Carl. Also surviving are their grandchildren Matthew, Andrew and Daniel and numerous great grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church in Roanoke having started there as a baby with her parents. Pat was a devoted member of The Order of the Daughters of the King for many years proudly wearing a symbol of their faith, The Royal Cross. She and Carl were affiliate members of the Community Christmas Store that served the needs of many at Christmas time in the Roanoke area where she served as a volunteer coordinator. She and Carl were also affiliate members of the Roanoke Valley Realtors Association Community Services Committee.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph (Joe) Arrington of Salem VA. His surviving family is wife Evelyn and their daughter Leslie.
Pat is survived by her devoted sister Gail Arrington Cole Law of Rocky Mount VA and Gail’s children Susan and Chris.
She is also survived by her “best friend since 3rd grade” Rosie Caldwell and her husband Leon of Blue Ridge VA. They spent many years traveling and spending time together.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 11:00am at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Rd. Roanoke, VA 24019. A Visitation will be held one hour prior from 10:00am - 11:00am also at the funeral home.
