Patsy Watson Rice

Patsy Watson Rice, 88, formerly of Monroe, VA, and most recently from Warrenton, VA, went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2025.

Patsy was born on April 8, 1936 in Pittsylvania County VA, to the late Bessie Irene Crawley Watson, and Fletcher Marvin Watson. Patsy was a graduate of Climax High School and a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was devoted to her family and served God in the home and the church with joy and love for all the years that the Lord gave her to do so.

Patsy was the loving wife of the late Harold R. Rice. Patsy is survived by her four children: Andy H. Rice, Sr. and his wife Beth of McGaheysville, VA, Keith R. Rice and his wife Laura of Madison Heights, VA, Norman R. Rice of Madison Heights, VA, and Susan R. Tolbert and her husband Robert of Warrenton, VA.

She is survived by five grandchildren: A.J. Rice and his wife Nicole of Roanoke, VA, Jonathan S. Rice and his wife Erin of Harrisburg, NC, Thomas K. Rice and his wife Chelsie of Madison Heights, VA, Matthew S. Rice of Monroe, VA and Tiffany K. Tolbert of Catlett, VA; she is survived by 9 great grandchildren. Patsy is also survived by three sisters: Elnora W. Estes of Hampton, VA, Dorothy W. Yeatts of Gretna, VA and Virginia W. David of Gretna, VA. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Evelyn W. Towler, Beulah W. Davidson, Sallie W. Towler, Agnes W. Blair, Calvin F. Watson, John W. Watson, Catherine (Kitty) W. Doss, and Gordon R. Watson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10, at 12:00 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel with visitation starting at 11:00 am., Andy H. Rice Sr., pastor of Providence Baptist Church, Harrisonburg, VA will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Amherst Cemetery.
