Paula Marie Parr Meredith
Pamela Marie Parr Meredith, 68 years old, departed this life on Friday, June 20, 2025 at her home in Maybrook, Virginia. Born February 23, 1957, she was the fifth of seven children born to Frazier and Sadie Tawney Parr.
Pam grew up along the banks of Sinking Creek where she gained fond memories of playing with her siblings and where she enjoyed many gatherings with family and friends through the years. She attended Newport Elementary and Giles High schools where she made dear friends.
Pam was known for many things. Many people knew her as a hairdresser at Marguerites, Pam’s Parlor, and later at The Uppercut where she retired after 30 years and 4 months. Some may know her from frequenting auctions on the hunt for a perfect crock or antique collectible. Others may know her from her service on the Pembroke Montage Association and Newport Fair Boards.
She was a tender-hearted soul known for having a kind, gentle, and sentimental nature. Even though she would hardly admit it, Pam was artistic and talented and in her last few years excelled in painting pictures and then gifting just about everyone she knew with her artwork, including her primary care doctor and the UPS man. From her paintings, crocheting, making blankets, cooking meals, and other talents and acts of kindness, her family members, friends, church family, neighbors, and community have all been blessed by her love and compassionate service.
Pam was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in multiple callings including Primary President, Sunday School Teacher, and Relief Society President. Her strong and personal love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, was very evident. Besides her parents Sadie and Frazier Parr and her parents-in-law, Nancy and Billy Meredith, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sheryl Lafon and her brother-in-law, Harold McKinley Meredith.
Pam is survived by her husband of 47 years, Glenn Meredith; daughters Amanda Meredith Davis and Lauren Watts (Jason); grandchildren Meredith Lucas, Declan Davis, and June Watts who were the apple of her eye; step-grandchildren Jackie Watts, Cynthia Watts, and Stevie Watts; brother LeRoy Parr; sisters Linda Williams (Rich), Teresa Parr, LaDonna Parr; and Teena Long (Michael); brothers and sisters-in-law Larry Meredith (Ann), Timmy Meredith (Kathy), Sean Meredith (Misty), and Catina Ratcliffe (Jason); several nieces, nephews, and a very special cousin who Pam considered more like a sister, Charlotte Shrader (Gene).
The family would like to thank friends and family who have showered Pam with love, gifts, and visits during her illness as well as thank Good Samaritan Hospice, Careosity LLC, and caregiver Joyce Lucas for all their care and service they lovingly showed to Pam.
The family will receive friends on June 22, 2023 at a time of visitation from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints-New River Valley Stake Center in Pembroke, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted to celebrate the life Pam gave to each of us on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Bishop Michael Long presiding. Funeral services will conclude in a committal service in the Martin-Meredith Cemetery in Pembroke, Virginia.
