Peggy Ashby Barnes

Peggy Ashby Barnes, 87, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. She was born on December 28, 1938, in Martinsville, VA to the late John Junior Ashby and Mamie Minter Ashby. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Leonard Barnes, sister, Linda Ashby Secrest and her son, John Michael Barnes.

She attended Good Home Primitive Baptist Church and worked in the Henry County Public School System as a secretary for thirty years.

Surviving is her son, Roger Leonard Barnes, Jr., and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Norris Funeral Services. Funeral Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, with Elder Kenneth Bowles officiating at Norris Funeral Services. Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Roselawn Burial Park.
