Peggy Dawn Lewark

Peggy Dawn (Folden) Lewark, age 82, of Botetourt (formerly of Pulaski County) passed away Saturday November 18, 2023 at her home. Peggy was born February 19, 1941 in Pulaski County to the late Gladys Dawn (Schrader) and Harry Frederick Folden. Peggy lived in Roanoke and Botetourt areas with her husband Fred since 1979. She was a homemaker and took pride caring for her family. When Peggy wasn’t busy taking care of her family she often volunteered for the United Service Organizations (USO) serving active-duty service members and military families in the 1960's - whether it be helping with special events, providing a listening ear, or cheering and greeting at homecoming events, she also enjoyed bowling where she played on many teams and ended up winning 3 championships, and Peggy played on a team with her husband and they won a championship together. Other than caring for her family or bowling, Peggy really enjoyed watching humming birds and other bird species at the bird feeders, but she really loved all animals. In addition to her parents Peggy is preceded in death by her brother and sister – in – law: Fred (Gloria) Folden. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years: Frederick E. “Fred” Lewark; son and daughter – in – law: David (Kristi) Lewark of Fredericksburg; grandchildren: Joshua Lewark and Niki Lewark of Fredericksburg; one great granddaughter: Kenzie Lewark; sister: Gloria Jean Bateman of Chesapeake; two nieces: Stacey Dickerson and Candice Kacan; nephew: Kevin Kirk; beloved cats: Honey and Sox, and many other loving cousins and family.A service honoring Peggy’s life will be held at the family’s convenience.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Roanoke Valley SPCA, 1340 Baldwin Ave., N.E.
