Peggy Fox Moore

Peggy Fox Moore, 85, of Chatham, Virginia, passed away on February 1, 2024, peacefully in her sleep at home.

Peggy was born on March 9, 1938, to Floyd and Mildred Fox in Danville, Virginia. After graduating from Chatham High School, she attended college in Lynchburg, Virginia and worked as a legal secretary following college.

She is survived by her children, Tonja Reynolds (Philip) of Chatham, VA, Jacqueline Eanes (Glenn) of Owings, MD, Steven Moore (Alice-Gray) of Santa Rosa, CA, and Melissa Bacon of Haymarket, VA. She also leaves behind her 5 beautiful grandchildren, Shane Garrett, Andrew Eanes, Amelia Bacon, Joshua Eanes, and Ava Bacon, a beloved brother, Bill Fox (Audrey), and sister-in-law, Rita Fox, her lifelong best friend.

Peggy was predeceased by her loving parents, Floyd and Mildred Fox, brother, Floyd Fox Jr., and sister, Patsy Patterson.

Our mother was the kindest and most wonderful mother any of us could have hoped for, and she showed us nothing but love our entire lives. She loved us unconditionally, and in doing so, taught us to love ourselves and each other. Peggy helped us appreciate the family we have, often pointing out that many were not as fortunate. Present in all of our lives, lucid, quick witted, and funny until the end, she celebrated our accomplishments and joys, and was our solace during times of doubt and struggle, wanting nothing from us but our happiness. A favorite saying of hers was "this too shall pass", and though we are thankful her death was a peaceful one, and that her pain and discomfort have come to an end, we mourn our loss and know we will forever miss her presence and love in our life. Our mother believed in God and the power of prayer, and we know she is in a better place. We are eternally grateful to have had such a light in our lives.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 8, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at the Fox Family Cemetery, Chatham, Va. with Rev. Mikel Pugh officiating.
