Percy Edward “Eddie” Valentine

Percy Edward “Eddie” Valentine, Sr., 81, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his home. He was born March 30, 1942, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Percy Valentine and Laurice Spencer Valentine.

He was a construction supervisor for over 52 years and was a member of Mt. Olive East Christian Church Disciples of Christ. He was also a member of Disciple Mens Fellowship, Male Chorus, Usher board, Social Action and Community Service and Preston Community Center. He was a mason and enjoyed golfing, bowling, baseball (Red Bank Reds) and football (Dallas Cowboys).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jerome “Jerry” Valentine.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Reid Valentine; son, Percy Valentine, Jr.; sister, Deloris Valentine Massey (Ernie); brothers, Curtis D. Valentine, William Wayne Valentine, Charles Ray Steed (Darlene) and Lancaster Steed; aunt, Inell S. Patterson; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a god-son, Darius O. Saunders; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 12:30 PM, at Mt. Olive East Christian Church, 3611 Spencer Preston Road, Martinsville, Virginia. Viewing will be from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. A floating visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
