Phyllis Anderson Parr

Phyllis Parr, 87, of Roanoke, passed on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Phyllis was born October 6, 1936 in Harlan, Kentucky and joined the Parr family of Eagle Rock, Virginia in 1953 when she married J.C. Parr. They had 4 children during their marriage and lived in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia together.

Phyllis spent her career at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, Woodrum Field, from which she retired. She was an active member of her church community, singing in the choir at Enon Baptist Church in Hollins, Virginia. Phyllis had a love for hummingbirds, the ocean, black coffee, and her cat Bella.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her two children, Robert Glenn and Janet Lynn Parr, as well as her in-laws Fenton & Nancy Parr.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Nancy & Frank Doyle and John Parr, her grandchildren Tamara Edwards, Stephen & Lacey Doyle, Megan Doyle, Carter & Ashley Doyle, her great grandchildren Adyson Vandevander and Spencer Doyle-Moore. Special thanks to Phyllis’ loved family members J.C. Parr, Tammy Rice, and Margaret Scott.

A service in Phyllis’s honor will be held on Sunday, September 15th at 2:30pm at Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel, with Pastor Allison Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends following the services. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. (540)366-0707.
