Rachel Persinger
Rachel Rose Persinger, age 90, of Lacks Ave, Covington, Virginia died Friday, January 2, 2026 at her residence.
She was born March 16, 1935 in Montgomery County, Virginia to the late Henry Jackson Rose and Thelma Weis Rose. She was a retired operating room technician for Alleghany Regional Hospital and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Watson “Sonny” Persinger; three sons, Raymond “Gene”, Roger and Randy Caldwell; two sisters, Reatha Dickerson and Lorene Smith; and two brothers Tony and Jimmy Rose.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Tingler of Clifton Forge, Amy Hogg (Jimmy) of Glen Wilton, Tammy Caldwell of Clifton Forge; three sisters, Elsie Caldwell (Saford) of Blacksburg, Linda Monk and Debbie Conner (Ray) both of Princeton, WV; a brother, Kenny Rose (Sharon) of Princeton, WV; 15 grandchildren including special granddaughter, Beth Landram of Covington; step children, Martha VanNess, Charles Persinger, Steven Persinger and Michael Persinger; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Billy Price officiating. A private interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
